Djokovic’s team also gave the former world number 1 a replacement device in the middle of the match with a ball girl helping them in their cause. “Something taped to Novak. Have you ever seen Robert Downey Jr. in the same room as Djokovic? Maybe Novak is Iron Man,” commentator Jim Courier said on Air on Tennis Channel while describing the turn of events which saw Djokovic attach the object to his chest.
After the match, the 36-year-old was asked about the same object. While he initially joked saying: “When I was a kid I liked Iron Man a lot, so I try to impersonate Iron Man.” He further said: “My team delivers an incredibly efficient nanotechnology to help me deliver my best on the court, so that’s the biggest secret of my career. After Djokovic’s statement, Tao Technologies, an Italian company which is known for its innovative nanotechnological devices for human health, has claimed that it is the manufacturer of the device that Djokovic was spotted using at the French Open 2023. The company said that the device is activated by sunlight and body heat and provides a lot of health benefits. They shared an elaborate social media post on their official handle.

Notably, Djokovic has a long history questionable beliefs. While he refused to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus even having to miss out on competitions, in 2017 the Serb remained opposed to getting a surgery despite an elbow injury and looked for a cure through holistic medicine. He once also teamed up with with former player turned coach and spiritual guide Pepe Imaz who would preach love and peace and his methods included the belief in the power of extremely long hugs.
